Twitter / X Is Down? Current Problems, Outages and Solutions
Twitter/X not working? Check out other users’ reports
In the chart above, you can see other Twitter users’ bug reports. If something is not working on the service or you can’t even start the site, please let us know by clicking the button above the graph.
If you can see that there are more reports, it’s clear that other users are having problems too, so it’s not a bug on your device, but some sort of outage directly on Twitter’s side.
You can post specific problems or errors in the comments at the bottom of the page. If other users are experiencing this problem, they can advise you or let you know that you need to wait for a fix directly from Twitter.

Quickly check the availability of Twitter.com
You can check the availability of https://twitter.com here.
We’ll try to connect to the site during the check. If the connection is successful, i.e. we are able to load the site from our side, the check is successful and the button turns green. Otherwise, it will be red, which indicates a site failure or an exceeded connection timeout, which also indicates some issues that need to be resolved.
Note, we are only checking the web version of Twitter, not the mobile app or individual features.
So, for example, if the site is working but you can’t add new posts, the check will succeed even though Twitter is struggling with a broken service.
So in this case, report the problem at the top of this page and you can elaborate in the comments.
This will then help other users who won’t try to fix the problems on their device, but will know that the fault is not on their side.
How to fix possible problems with Twitter
Twitter is a combination social network and microblog, where each post must fit into 280 characters.
It is also a member of the top three social networks along with Facebook and Instagram. Since Facebook, Instagram and maybe also WhatsApp are all under one company, Meta, when there is an outage with one of these services, typically all of them go down.
But Twitter is separate, and thus if Facebook and other companies drop out, usually everyone will just move to Twitter, which Twitter itself poked fun at when basically all of Meta’s services went down in October 2021.
But as you can see, even the biggest companies sometimes just encounter a major outage that can last for hours.
Twitter is no exception, so let’s take a look at why outages or bugs might have happened, how to fix them, but also when it’s impossible for us to do anything but simply wait.
Misspellings in the Twitter.com address or a bad domain ending
Twitter operates on a single web address, Twitter.com. No other endings like .eu, .co.uk, or any other are correct.
Especially if you are accessing the site from a browser and typing the address manually, check for any possible typos or just the domain extension.
The service may be blocked at work or on public wi-fi networks
Different social networks may be blocked on different devices or networks. Typically, this applies, for example, when you are at work.
An employer may purposely block access to sites that are not intended for work, and there is a risk of employees spending too much time on these sites.
This typically applies to social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, but also streaming services such as Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, and music streaming services such as Spotify.
So if you’re on a device and network at work where these sites are blocked, there’s typically not much point in trying to get around these blocks, because even if you did, you’d still have a bigger problem with management.
You may also encounter various blockages on public wi-fi networks, although this is not as common these days.
So the solution is to access the blocked sites from another device and another network, typically your personal phone and your own mobile data.
Check the programs on your device and browser extensions
You may have programs installed on your device that can block connections to various sites. These are typically security programs.
These programs are mainly designed to protect our devices, but sometimes they can block safe sites as well.
It is true that in the case of Twitter, the chances of it being blocked are practically zero, and it is more likely to happen with sites that offer free/illegal streaming content, but it cannot be completely ruled out.
Even these security programs can misjudge something or encounter a bug.
It’s also possible that you’re using a VPN and the IP address you’ve just chosen is blocked because someone else has used it for a hacking attack. If you’re not sure, you can try disabling these programs or check Twitter from another device where you’re not using them. That is, try the app or the web version on your mobile phone.
If nothing works at all, it’s likely that Twitter is experiencing a major outage.
Twitter has simply crashed and needs to wait for recovery
If you see multiple reported outages, it’s very likely that Twitter is simply not working. In this case, there’s not much you can do and you need to wait for the service to work again.
How long is then uncertain, and it depends on how major the outage is and how quickly things can be fixed.
For more information, here are also links to Twitter itself and its profiles on other social networks, where you can find out more information about the current outage and usually a tentative repair time.
Twitter on Twitter
Here you can find the official Twitter feed of Twitter itself. This is usually how the various services let you know that they are experiencing an outage. But if Twitter itself is down, it’s quite possible you won’t see anything. On the other hand, if you see a blank box below this text, that’s another indication that the service has indeed crashed and you need to wait it out:
